We welcome players from all over Dorset and are currently looking to increase our numbers of violins and violas in particular.

We do not hold auditions but as a guide, the standard of the Sinfonia is generally equivalent to Grade 6 or above. We would not however want to deter people who have not attained formal qualifications but who otherwise are competent musicians.

Applications from players of all ages are welcome and we are very pleased to have a number of young musicians already with us.

If you are interested in joining Dorset Sinfonia, please use the form below to contact us to find out whether your instrumental talents are the ones Dorset Sinfonia is currently lacking!

Costs are kept to a minimum, but inevitably rent, insurance, music etc. all has to be paid for, so currently members contribute £45 per term. This is kept under review and is dependent on funding revenue from concerts and other sources of income.

If you are interested in joining us, please fill in the form below. We will try to get back to you as soon as we can.

MEMBERSHIP ENQUIRY

CONSTITUTION

We are formally constituted on an amateur basis.
Our funding is by membership subscription payable in advance on the basis of three terms per year.
The orchestra is a member of MAKING MUSIC, an organisation whose aims reflect ours in supporting and championing voluntary music.
We have a small library of music and are always interested in extending that and increasing our repertoire.
We are particularly keen to provide opportunities for talented young people to gain the experience and great pleasure that can be had from playing as a group and believe that making music in this way is one of the best team games.
